Biography

Mr. Michael Strand is an Adjunct Professor for the Department of Health Administration and Policy at George Mason University. Additionally, he is an Adjunct Instructor at Catholic University of America in their Masters of Management and Human Resources programs. At Prince George’s Community College, for ten years he taught certification preparation modules to HR professionals in preparation for their national certification exam. He has conducted numerous presentations to local and regional human resources professional groups.

He is an experienced leader in human resources and personnel functions in health care organizations. His knowledge and expertise in human resources management and employee compensation and benefits spans over 35 years in executive level positions in various health care organizations and consulting firms. He has served as the HR Director of five local hospitals in both union and non-union environments.

Mr. Strand is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-SCP, SPHR) and is a former Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

He has written chapters that were published in “Stress-free Performance Appraisals” and “The Essential HR Handbook” (The Career Press, Inc.).

In 2008 Mr. Strand received an appointment to the 3-person Merit System Board of a Maryland State agency. The Board serves as the final administrative appellate entity on all employee appeals resulting from disciplinary actions, grievance decisions, classification decisions and complaints of discrimination. Presently, Mr. Strand is the Founder and Principal at HR Dynamics, Inc., a consulting firm serving modest-sized businesses to resolve difficult human resources challenges.

Mr. Strand has earned a BBA from the University of Toledo and a MA (Health Care Administration) from The George Washington University.
