Biography

Kathie Westpheling is a consultant to the Institute for E-Health Policy where she manages student internships and other experiences for students seeking to learn about the intersection of health policy and health IT. In 2013, she retired as Executive Director of the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU). She has over 45 years of experience with clinical teams working in public health and primary care, primarily in safety net organizations. She served on the Management Committee of the National Health IT Collaborative for the Underserved (NHIT) addressing workforce development strategies. Ms. Westpheling was a 2002 DHHS Primary Care Health Policy Fellow and participated in the development of a policy brief for the Secretary of DHHS on health information technology. Prior to joining the ACU, she served as project director of the NHSC HPDP Project, a national service learning program for health professions students in community-based health systems, funded by the DHHS, HRSA, National Health Service Corps.
