Biography

Dr. Herzog began his career in 1977 at IBM Germany holding various software-related research and development (R&D) and managerial positions over a sixteen year span. From 1993 to 2009 he held the position of the chaired professor of Artificial Intelligence at Universitaet Bremen. Since 2010 he has served as the Wisdom Professor of Visual Information Technologies at Jacobs University Bremen. 

Dr. Herzog founded and directed TZI - Center for Computing and Communication Technologies, an organization that began in 1995 and now has more than 160 full-time researchers. He is currently a Fellow of the Gesellschaft für Informatik, member of the ACM, elected Fellow of acatech – German National Academy of Science and Engineering, and was a member of its Executive Board from 2010-2013. He also serves on various boards of German research institutes and enterprises. 

Since 1998, Dr. Herzog has collaborated with research faculty at George Mason University's Machine Learning and Inference Laboratory.
