Biography

Jane Woods opened her own consulting company, Driftwoods Consulting, LLC, in January of 2006 upon completing a four-year term as Virginia's Secretary of Health and Human Resources with Governor Mark R. Warner. Woods also joined the College of Health and Human Services, Department for Health Administration and Policy at George Mason University in 2006. Prior to 2006, Woods served in the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia State Senate where she chaired the Senate Committee on Education and Health. Woods's work in the legislature also included serving as Vice Chair of the Joint Commission on Health Care as well as numerous other commissions and joint committees. 

Before serving in the legislature, Woods taught in the public schools for almost 20 years. Her community work has spanned from political campaigns to Associate Director of Virginia Girls State; Board member of the Virginia Health Quality Center; Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts (Immediate Past President); Advisory Board, Prevent Child Abuse Virginia; the Fairfax Futures and the NoVaScriptsCentral boards; the AMERIGROUP National Advisory Board and the executive committee of the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. 

Woods graduated from American University (1968) with a BA in education and has managed a small commercial real estate management company in addition to her work in health care policy and education. Her graduate work is in education administration, law and business administration.
