Alternative Payment Models: Risk Evaluation Tool for Financial and Non-Financial Risk
Providers need to take into account the full set of risks they face under different alternative payment models (APMs). For example, without considering their unique circumstances of safety-net providers, Medicaid managed care organizations may adopt APMs that destabilize these important providers. Rachael Matulis, Mary Beth Dyer, and Alison Cuellar have created a risk assessment tool that can help policymakers and managed care organizations assess the full set of financial and non-financial risks embedded in different APMs.
